Understanding the unique needs of today’s growers and market demands.

Because we are grower based, we understand the unique needs of today's growers and processors. The need for accurate sales and movement information, along with timely payment, is critical for success in today's market environment. Meridian Growers strives to keep growers and processors completely informed throughout the marketing season. We firmly believe in being completely open with our growers.

At Meridian Growers, we understand it is our responsibility to care for the land we use, which is why we have put in place procedures and practices to avoid the depletion of our natural resources.

Water - Water is essential for growing almonds, but we know we must use it wisely. Our growers have transitioned from flood irrigation to micro-sprinkler technology, which saves approximately two-thirds of the water compared to flood irrigation. We have also found ways to reuse wastewater from our facilities, ensuring that no water is wasted. Our water usage is highly regulated, so we can adjust as needed.

Land - Soil is the foundation of our work. Our growers plant cover crops to help protect the soil’s physical and biological properties as well as reduce erosion. It also increases microbial activity, which helps build soil structure, boosts water holding capacity through living roots and infiltration, while increasing nutrient cycling. We do minimal tillage farming so that the soil structure can hold on to nutrients in the root zone longer.

Energy - Renewable energy is another way we aim to be sustainable. Our growers use solar power to power their wells and shops. At our processing facility, we use a 1-megawatt solar system to help offset our energy usage.

Air - Harvesting can create a lot of dust. To combat this and to help keep our air clean, our growers sand their roads every year to minimize dust. Roads around our processing facility have either been paved or are sanded as well.

Waste - Nothing goes to waste at our facilities. From our pistachio shells to any sticks or leaves that get sorted out, we have found a use for them through a composting program. Our pistachio hulls are used for feeding cattle, and anything that can be recycled or reused is repurposed. We also use recycled packaging.

By working with Meridian Growers, you can be assured that your needs are our priority. We are grower-based and customer-driven. We know the products we sell from the tree to the end product and share this knowledge with our customers. We also understand the customers that we sell to and share this information freely with our growers. We look to maximize your return on every sale we do. We have also invested both time and money to solicit and strengthen relationships with key buyers in both established as well as emerging markets. By working directly with buyers and end users, we can ensure that each transaction will go as smoothly as possible.
